Sending data from a sequence to an external tool (HTTP request action)

The "Send a Request" step in the Sequencer lets you fire an HTTP request to any external URL at a specific point in a sequence. Use it to notify another system, push data to a webhook endpoint, or trigger a workflow in a third-party tool.

How to add a Send a Request step

  1. In your sequence, click "Add step" and select "Send a Request"
  2. Enter the destination URL
  3. Choose the HTTP method (POST, GET, etc.)
  4. Add any headers you need (e.g. an authorisation header)
  5. Define the request body — you can include personalisation tokens to pass contact data

What you can pass

You can include any contact field as a token in the request body. For example, to push a contact's name, email, and page URL to an external webhook:

{  "name": "{{first_name}} {{last_name}}",  "email": "{{email}}",  "page_url": "{{page_url}}"}

Use cases

  • Notify a CRM when a contact reaches a specific step
  • Trigger a Make or Zapier webhook to kick off a downstream workflow
  • Post a Slack message when a contact completes a sequence
  • Update a database record when a contact replies
